Applications Now Open for Sandhill Deer Hunt Program
If the thought of hunting and camaraderie in Wisconsin's sprawling forests excites your inner adventurer, mark your calendars! The Wisconsin DNR is accepting online applications until July 1 for the 2025 Sandhill Wildlife Area learn-to-hunt program for deer. With its picturesque 9,150-acre grounds, Sandhill is set to host an engaging experience for those aged 12-15, as well as adults (16+) without prior hunting experience. What's more, if you need a favorite chaperone to tag along, they’ll be more than welcome, albeit the $40 registration fee is on you.
Completing a hunter education course is a must before grabbing your gear. Let’s face it, you wouldn’t mix the ingredients for a casserole without a recipe, right? And similarly, before heading into the wild, it’s essential to know the ropes! The program culminates in a two-day hunt scheduled for November 8-9, where budding hunters will finally put all their newly acquired skills to the test.
