Hockey Fans, Rejoice: Badgers Back in Action!
Madison, WI – Start your engines and polish those skates because the No. 3 Wisconsin men’s hockey team is roaring back into the Kohl Center! After a long 54-day break, the Badgers are ready to lace up for their first home game of the new year against the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on January 9-10. It's been so long since the Badgers played at home that I bet even the Zamboni driver forgot how to operate the machine!
What's the Deal with the Chuck-A-Puck?
Now, if you’re wondering what makes this game even more exciting, we’ve got the Chuck-A-Puck event sponsored by BMO! Fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used recess equipment to the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County. Each donor receives pucks to toss onto the ice after the game for a shot at winning some pretty cool prizes, including a sweet Wisconsin hockey jersey and even tickets for next season! I mean, who doesn’t want to throw things onto the ice? Just think of it as a field day but with more chill!
A Look Back: Badgers’ Recent Games
This matchup is a much-anticipated return after the boys went on a mini-vacation for the holidays. The team has had a solid season so far, winning a thrilling game against Ohio State in overtime just before their break. It’s a rollercoaster ride that’s had its ups and downs, but these Badgers aim to protect their home turf, starting this weekend.
Meet the Seawolves: Who Are They?
The Seawolves may not have the same towering reputation as the Badgers, but don’t count them out! With a record of 3-13, they've struggled a bit this season. However, they pulled off a surprise win against No. 7 Denver — talk about playing like David against Goliath! Their junior forward Karter McNarland leads the team with nine points. I guess it proves that even in hockey, underdogs can pack a punch!
Heart of a Champion: Badgers’ Future Goals
This weekend is more than just a couple of games—it's a chance to build momentum. Badgers' coach Mike Hastings has big dreams, stating, "If you want to end up playing in your building at the end of the year, you'd better protect your home ice, and that starts on Friday." Here’s hoping we can keep the puck on our side of the rink! Maybe we should send the players some ‘protect your home ice’ recipes to boost their energy. I hear donut holes work wonders!
Community Spirit: Youth Night
As part of their community outreach, the Badgers are hosting Youth Night during the Michigan State games on January 15-16. Let’s face it: the more kids we can get out to the games, the more potential future Badgers we have! Plus, they get a chance to snag a sweet replica jersey. Maybe I should head to the local yarn store and start knitting; you never know what kind of gear might be in fashion!
How to Catch the Action
For fans itching to catch the action live, puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, January 9, and 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, with both games streaming on B1G+. Don’t forget to tune into the radio as we cheer our boys to victory over the wireless airwaves!
The Badgers are back, and they’re ready to take on the ice with fervor and community spirit. Whether you're shouting from the stands or cheering from home, remember—great things come from a happy hockey family. So, ice up those skates and let's bring home a win!
Want to join the fun? Grab your tickets, throw on your Badgers jersey, and get ready to Chuck-A-Puck your way to victory!
